Lime Plastering / Rendering

This traditional method uses lime-based materials, offering breathability, durability, and a natural aesthetic.

Skimming/Bonding

Skimming applies a thin layer of plaster for a smooth finish, while bonding prepares surfaces for subsequent coats.

Spray Plastering and Rendering

This technique uses a machine to apply plaster quickly and evenly, ideal for large areas.

Coloured Rendering

Includes both silicon based render (for a thin coat) and acrylic render (K-rend), which are known for their durability, weather resistance, and wide range of colours and textures.

Dry Lining

Involves attaching plasterboard directly to the wall frame, creating a smooth, even surface quickly.

Internal and External Wall Insulation (IWI/EWI)

We use breathable fibreboard for our internal wall insulation (IWI), e.g. wood fibreboard and wool fibreboard. With our external wall system (EWI), insulation boards are affixed to the exterior walls, improving energy efficiency and reducing heat loss.

Our Specialist Services

Lime Plastering and Rendering

Lime plastering and rendering can be applied to various surfaces including brickwork, wooden laths (with or without horsehair), wood fibre boards, and masonry. Insulation can be incorporated using materials such as hemp or cork.

We typically apply three coats of lime plaster: a scratch coat, a devil floated coat, and a final textured or smooth finish coat. Each coat requires approximately two weeks to cure before the next can be applied.

We use quality commercial mortars, but can also create bespoke mortars to meet specific project demands.

Flicking

Flicking is a specialised technique in plastering that involves applying a thin layer of plaster with rapid, flicking motions of the trowel. The key is to control the amount of plaster applied and the speed and direction of the flicking motion. This requires practice and skill to master. Done properly, this method is can achieve exceptional results:

  • Smooth Finish: Flicking helps create an incredibly smooth and even surface, ideal for subsequent painting or decorating.
  • Minimizing Imperfections: The quick, flicking movements can effectively conceal minor imperfections in the underlying surface.
  • Enhanced Adhesion: This technique promotes superior bonding of the plaster to the wall or ceiling, ensuring a long-lasting and durable finish.
